Get cleared to volunteer
LAUSD requires Tier II clearance to volunteer on campus during school hours. Start early since it can take a couple of weeks.
- Apply online
Complete the LAUSD volunteer application at volunteerapp.lausd.net. Returning volunteers can log in and resubmit.
- Complete TB screening
Have the TB screening form completed and stamped by a physician or urgent care clinic. Depending on your answers, a skin test may be required, which means a return visit a few days later.
- Drop off at the front office
Bring your completed form to the Delevan front office. Staff will process it and clear your application.

Where does the money go?
Every dollar goes to the Delevan 6th grade fund. At least 80% goes toward Science Camp, and the rest helps cover the dance, picnic, scavenger hunt and culmination.
What if we don't hit $20,000?
Every dollar we raise lowers the cost of Science Camp for everyone. Nothing goes to waste, and whatever we raise goes straight to our kids this year.
What if Science Camp is a stretch for our family?
I want every 6th grader to go. Reach out to me directly, and our conversation stays private.
Is my donation tax deductible?
For a tax deductible gift, write a check to Delevan Drive Elementary PTA and put "6th Grade Fund" on the memo line. Online donations go straight to the 6th grade fund, so check with your tax advisor on those.
I'm short on time. How else can I help?
We know everyone is busy, and every contribution counts. Donate food or drinks for our concession stands, give any amount on Cheddar Up, send supplies from our Amazon Wishlist or introduce us to a local business. Cheddar Up is also easy to share with grandparents and extended family.
How can I help with Harvest Fest?
Harvest Fest on October 30 is our biggest fundraising night, and our target is $4,000. Sign up for a short shift or a donation on SignUpGenius. If you're donating food, please drop it off the day of since we don't have storage on campus.
What does a team lead or event lead do?
Team leads own one area for the year, like merch, recycling or concessions. Event leads partner with me on one event, from planning through the day itself. You don't need experience. I'll share last year's chair manual with every lead, and co-leads are welcome if you're short on time.
Do I need clearance to volunteer?
If you'll be on campus before 2:15 PM, you need LAUSD Tier II clearance and a TB screening. After 2:15 PM, you don't. The steps are on the Get Involved tab, and it takes time, so start early.
How do I get updates?
Join our 6th grade WhatsApp group. All updates, requests and reminders go there, and I keep messages focused so it doesn't get noisy. Please add your student's name to your member tag so we know who you are. Missed a meeting? Slides, notes and recordings are on the Meetings tab.
